About Our Rides

Safety is of the utmost importance. These are group rides and proper group riding protocol must be followed. If you are not familiar with what goes on a group ride, just ask. The rides are friendly and there are others who will gladly help acquaint new riders with how to ride safely in a pack. We also ask that everyone wear a helmet. If you don't have one, come on in and check out our great selection!

We have some of the best riding in the world.

Generally speaking we stop for mechanicals and regroup at pionts along the way. In spite of this sometimes someone gets dropped. If you get a flat or have a mechanical problem, shout it out and we'll stop to help. However, if you whisper or quietly fall off the back, you may be on your own. If you want to peel off early or if you simply don't want to hang in at the pace of the group, please let someone know. This will prevent extended waits at the regroup stop for a rider who is not going to show. Communication is key to a good group ride.

By the way, these are road rides and a road bike is the standard. Not that mountain bikes aren't welcome;they just aren't that common. We will however advise you of mountain bike rides that we are made aware of and hope to add a regular Sunday off-road ride to the mix.

Climb Chart

The majority of the Sundance Cycles rides enjoy climbing in the local Santa Monica Mountains. A general average is that for each mile ridden locally, you will average 100 ft of vertical ascent. On average over 40 miles you will climb 4,000 feet. Specific climbs, distance, vertical ascent, and percent grade can be found on the Santa Monica Mountains Climb Chart.
